PSP Downloads
|
I'm into internet radio big time.. And thanks to Sprint's Mi-Fi, I even rock to internet radio via the PSP in my Jeep (Sirius-XM who?). So when Sony came out with the Internet Radio plugin for the PSP, I
was pretty excited - well until I downloaded their player and noticed that their player kinda sucked.. Mainly because it only gave you the option to
listen to the first so many popular stations per genre, and I couldn't get to any of the stations that I liked...
So I created "Shoutcast PSP", which kind of resembles the shoutcast.com website - well at least the color scheme... And yes, it has stations and genres that
I handpicked, but there is some functionality that any PSP Internet Radio listener would love called "Dynamic PLS Slots". (see below for more info)...
I also created another player called "Teac Cassette Player", which resembles a....
yea, you guessed it - a Teac Cassette Player.. See below for more info...

Download
Note: If you download this file onto your PC, you will need to copy it to your PSP in the PSP/InternetRadio/ directory.
How it works:
Once you have installed this player on your PSP, you can access it under Network / Internet Radio / Shoutcast PSP.
Basically, click on the Genre that you want to listen to. You will then get a list of stations. Notice that some have a backup server that you can
try incase you can't get to the Main stream. Some also offer a lo-fi stream incase you have a bad internet connection.
Because of space limitation, I couldn't put all genres at the top, so I had to create a section for More Genres.
What if you don't see a genre you like? Or what if you don't see a station you like? Then that's where "Dynamic PLS Slots" come into play (located
under the "Misc" link"). Think of these as Radio Presets that you can maintain.
To use Dynamic PLS Slots, you just need to use the PSP's internet browser and go to the website of an internet radio station you like, such as
shoutcast.com, sky.fm, monkeyradio.org, etc. (Hint: turn javascript off and go to http://classic.shoutcast.com to view shoutcast.com on your psp).
Once you find the link of the .pls stream, click on it. When it prompts you to save the file, change the name to 1.pls and save it in the PSP/Common directory.
This will make the station available under Slot 1. Saving another file as 2.pls in the PSP/Common directory will make that station available under
slot 2 - and so on...
So the great thing about Dynamic PLS slots is you can find and "program" stations on the go. And it's great because you are not subjected to only the
stations that I or sony provides.

Note: If you download this file onto your PC, you will need to copy it to your PSP in the PSP/InternetRadio/ directory.
How it works:
I built this player for fun.. It's an internet radio player that resembles a tape deck.
Once you have installed this player on your PSP, you can access it under Network / Internet Radio / Shoutcast PSP.
As soon as you start it up, it will ask you to choose a Genre. So far, it only has the following genres:
80's
Classic Hip Hop
Classic R&B
Classic Rock
Roots Reggae
To choose one of the Genres, simple click on the Cassette Tape and you should see the player load.
Once the player loads, you will have to click one of the play buttons to start the player.
"Side A" will play one station and "Side B" will play another station.
And yes - as the music is playing, the cassette tape is animated. When it plays "Side A" it turns counter-clockwise. When it plays "Side B", it
turns clockwise. If you click stop, both the music and animation stop.
Clicking the eject button will simply go back to the Choose Genre screen.

Mi-Fi / PSP Internet Radio Work Around
|
File 1: Download
File 2: Right-click, and "save as..." - This file you will want to manually put in your /PSP/COMMON/ folder.
Try this download if you are experiencing a DNS error when first connecting your PSP to your Mi-Fi device. This will help you get around the DNS error and connect to the Internet Radio players.
For more information about this problem, see this thread.
